So I’m sitting here at the computer just now, playing a quick game of Dynomite in the after-dinner lull and before the pre-bedtime rush, and I could hear Serena talking to herself in the bathroom. It took a couple of minutes, but soon some of her babble became words.
“Sex. Sex. Sex.” she said.
Oh. my. god. There’s no way. She’s saying WHAT???! My mind screamed. Sex? We don’t talk about that, we don’t use that word, not in front of her, she’s only SIX YEARS OLD!!!
It must be from The Ex’s house. The children tell me all the time about the inappropriate things he tells them. Could it be that?
Or maybe it’s from school? It’s a Waldorf school, and the children supposedly aren’t exposed to media at that age, but you never know, each parent has their own way to interpret that. Could it be from some kid at school?
I’m freaking out here. She CLEARLY said “Sex.” Over and over. (When I’m done with this computer game I’ll have to investigate.)
Oh jeez, how am I going to approach her? I am so not ready to have The Talk. SHE’S ONLY SIX YEARS OLD!
It was about then that I realized she was practicing her German.
Counting.
“Eins, zwei, drei, vier, funf, sechs, sieben…”
Sex. Sechs. Oh.
