children? what children? Add comments

There’s nothing that spells “weekend” like being cooped up in the house with 1.5 sick kids and one bored one who likes to throw things and make helpful snack suggestions. And when Serena is sick, she makes sure that everyone within a 12-mile radius is aware of it.

SERENA, for the 113th time: eeeeaaaagh!
ME, in loving sympathetic voice: What’s the matter, baby?
SERENA: impatiently points vaguely at self with frowning look on her face, mustering up all the sick she can.
ME, concerned: Throat? Stomach?
SERENA: eeeaaagh! (makes gagging noises)
ME, ever so helpful yet wanting to check email: Don’t throw up on the couch!
SERENA: eaagh!!

Repeat throughout the day.

Drama? Here? Why do you ask?

Meanwhile, Eric is driving Nathaniel insane by requesting repeated drinks in his special cup (which changes at a moment’s notice, so you always have to know which cup is in the current rotation or risk the Yell of Indignation) yet insisting that I be the one to serve them. Every time. Oh yes, I got a LOT of work done today!

And then the PC was running slowly so I had the bright idea to install the newest version of my email program, as if that really was the cause of the slowness (it could have been! you never know!), which wiped out every email squirreled away in my inbox since the middle of last November. We’re talking close to 2000 emails here, most of which deserved deletion but many are pretty vital. So I have the fun of finding them again. Ooh, a treasure hunt!

Add that to the fact that I have not stepped outside except to take trash out since Friday. Friday, people! I am so. very. ready for everyone to go to school tomorrow. (And yes I am in denial about the fact that tomorrow begins their Last Week of School, after which they will be, uh, Not In School, at which time Life As We Know It will change. Peh.)

I’m still thinking about those missing emails. They’re kind of like my children, if children could be contained and filed inside a plastic box. (Hmmm.) I miss them. I’m going to have to go now and look for them. Sorry. I’ll have to talk to you later.
