not every day is stellar

sleep, the black hole Add comments

I still get the darker times, just not very often these days. It’s hard to believe that I used to live here. I don’t quite know what to do about them, the darker times, except wait for them to go away. One thing builds upon another, and eventually I am rendered immobile.

And the loneliness is terrifying, yet the feeling of immobilization makes it impossible to reach out.

And sleep doesn’t come.

It’s, apparently, hiding in the same place as humor and confidence and creativity. Don’t worry, they’re all in there somewhere, and they’ll be back on the surface again. Eventually.

But sleep. Doesn’t. Come.

Humor? Are you kidding me? I just read a little something about a placenta — red, by the way — and laughed out loud. And was also touched. Very, very well done.

After browsing thru a few of your writings, I see that sleep is a semi-common topic. I too get interested in it when it’s hard to come by. I happen to do research on it because, to me it’s so important. I also hope you can share something with me. I have a tendency to kick out my flat sheet (the sheet that covers…not the fitted sheet) at night…thus my feet feel a draft, I wake up, I’m uncomfortable. Then to keep that from happening I try to tuck the flat sheet in way under the bed, but then my feet are cramped and thus I am uncomfortable again…but, alas the sheet still comes out and each night I have to be aware of what I do with my feet so as not to cause the flat sheet to become untucked…all in all, not a very comfortable situation. My guess is this is magnified with the sleep number bed because of it’s light weight…thus not enough weight to hold the flat sheet in…..that is the question…would you agree that the light weight mattress does not hold the flat sheet in place….I was thinking of getting a SN bed and need solid info…what do you think about that…or does anyone else want to comment?

Hi Dan, I had a bed like that at one time and didn’t find it was any different from any other mattress. In other words, it wasn’t light weight at all.

You might try an extra-long sheet, leaving kick room around you feet. Can’t really comment as that’s not an issue for me. :-)
